Lava engulfs Iceland’s Blue Lagoon car park Short Synopsis

The car park at Iceland’s world-famous Blue Lagoon has been engulfed in lava, after a nearby volcano erupted for the seventh time in less than a year.

Hotel guests and nearby homes were evacuated but authorities said there was no threat to air travel in the region.

Prior to 2021 the Reykjanes Peninsula had not seen volcanic activity in 800 years.

Seismologist say a long-dormant fault line lying under the landscape has reawakened.
